Application Support Specialist

Summary
This individual will be filling the gap between the application development team, IT management and the user community.
​
This will be a multifaceted role to include: application/technical support, business analysis, SQL data analysis & manipulation, adhoc report building and light project management.
Key Responsibilities

Works with senior IT roles regarding design, standard, and method

Exercises good judgment – makes decisions based on knowledge, priority, and value.

Copes well with aggressive schedules and timelines, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Provides end user, and QA documentation as needed.

Will be supplied with studies and documentation related to proposed or existing systems showing feasibility.

Supports existing business processes, and may help define, design, deploy, and test information system solutions under direction from management, supervisor, and/or project lead.

Interacts professionally with the end users of systems/processes to gather requirements, administrate, and/or troubleshoot.

Under minimal direction, supports, troubleshoots, and tests software systems using software tools, utilities, languages, and standard methodologies approved by Management, Software Development, and the Quality Assurance team.

Provides support to assist end users of developed systems to utilize functions of the system.

Updates documentation for all developed systems as needed, so that they may be maintained and supported via the Quality Assurance document guidelines.

Troubleshoots, and may be assigned to assist those programming developed systems from given requirements to correct malfunctions or defects while updating existing documentation.

Continuous Improvement – Works to be in a position to Analyze and propose alternative solutions to process and/or computer systems problems.

Recommends appropriate system design and programming solutions to management, and/or supervisor.

Strives to achieve the highest possible quality with the lowest possible cost to the company by using Quality Assurance guidelines for all development work.
Requirements

Expert in issue tracking and resolution

Organized

SME on purchased or homegrown applications – Go to person

IT background – Some sort of IT education. I don’t want Art, or Business degrees.

Some experience as a Lead
-
Minimum of 4 years’ experience doing Application Support.

Knowledgeable in SQL (Selects, Unions, Joins). Will doing more to support our appeals process, so will need to be doing SQL Stored procs.

Report Writing (SSRS preferred).

Work Ethic – Can’t be lazy type. Needs to be high energy type person.
